Control of policy

Last weekend, several protests took place across Scotland against the current wave of violence sweeping the Gaza Strip.

Many of the protesters called on First Minister Alex Salmond to do something about the continuing violence. Given that, within the constraints of the Union, Scotland has absolutely zero power over her own foreign policy and military-strategic relations with other nations, I presume that all of those demanding the Scottish Government “pick a side” – and, for that matter, all those who want Scotland to be able to control her own destiny in the international community – will vote Yes in the 2014 independence referendum.
