Carbon base line

I DRAW no comfort from the First Minister’s reference to Scotland’s attempts at reducing carbon emissions as being better than the Germans when he spoke in Aberdeen yesterday.

We are not involved in a fantasy football league but facing a real problem that needs global solutions.

Being smug that we are doing better than another country is simplistic as there is no base line from which to measure progress.

Whilst a pat on the back may be in order, there is absolutely no cause for complacency. Changing the light bulbs and insulating the roof is part of the solution but it needs big and sometimes unpopular measures from the Scottish Government to meet the targets.
