Although I despise the type of behaviour that The Apprentice appears to encourage – greed, self-promotion and hard-nosed ambition – it’s encouraging that it was “utter graft” that won Young Apprentice for Ashleigh Porter-Exley (your report, 21 December).

It’s better than the hideous craze for craving fame for its own sake and caring solely about appearance.
