Act on climate

I was very concerned to read your article, “Climate Change has halved Scottish seabird population in last 25 years, report reveals” (6 November).

This decline in our native
seabird populations is a
worrying example of the impacts of climate change and a powerful reminder of the need for global action to cut
emissions.

The Scottish Government must ensure that we play our full part in reducing emissions and do all it can to turn our world- leading climate change targets into world-leading policies.

This will require the current draft budget to be amended to provide the necessary funding and incentives to reduce our damaging carbon emissions from homes and transport.

In addition, a clear step change in policy effort in the forthcoming Climate Action Plan is needed so we can all be confident that no future climate targets will be missed.
