Eddie Barnes: Glasgow’s Labour looks tired ahead of council elections

THE new orthodoxy in Scottish politics dictates that, in any forthcoming election campaign, the slickly organised, well-funded SNP will surge effortlessly to beat the faction-ridden, ill-prepared Labour party.

Whitney Houston: tragic demise from the top. Picture: Getty

Emma Cowing: Fame is just one drug for flawed celebrity

A TURKEY sandwich and a side order of jalapenos. That the image of Whitney Houston’s uneaten last meal – found next to the bath where she died – had been photographed, released and broadcast worldwide within hours of her death, says much about the tragic last years of one of modern music’s superstars.

Donald Trump turned on his once ally, Alex Salmond. Picture: PA

Leaders: Donald Trump’s swipe at wind farm site puts him in the rough

Letter: Poor defence

AS the Scottish Secretary Michael Moore admitted late last year “that there would not be anything as big as the two aircraft carriers again in our lifetime”, will Jim Murphy (your report, 13 February) use his crystal ball to detail, and at what cost, the Labour Party’s commitment to any future major UK defence contracts if it ever gets back in power at Westminster?

Letter: A helpful No vote

SIR Ian Wood has to be applauded for stating that he will give the £50 million pledged to help fund the City Garden Project in Aberdeen to his charity set up to help good causes in Africa should the people of Aberdeen vote against the project.
