Hopes fade for 100 in ferry capsize

HOPES of finding more survivors after an overloaded ferry capsized off Zanzibar faded last night, with more than 100 people still missing after the sinking on Wednesday.

At least 38 people – including an American – were confirmed dead and 145 were rescued after the MVSkagit/Kalama overturned near Chumbe island west of Zanzibar.

Rough seas hampered search efforts yesterday.
