Double blow to Wilders’ party
The election campaign of Dutch politician Geert Wilders got off to a bad start yesterday when two MPs quit his anti-euro, anti-immigrant party, accusing him of running it like the North Korean politburo.
In a setback to the Freedom Party ahead of a 12 September election, the two MPs announced their resignations on TV.
“Everything was about Wilders”, the two MPs – Wim Kortenoeven and Marcial Hernandez –said. They said he pulled the plug on austerity talks in April, toppling the government, and complained he did not consult on campaign issues.
