Dead ringer singer held

A TRICKSTER who pretended he was a deceased traditional singer, returned from being imprisoned by a witchdoctor in a cave filled by zombies, has been arrested in South Africa.

He is suspected of impersonating singer Akhe Mgqumeni Khumalo, who died in 2009.

Crowds who thronged the singer’s village of Esiggumeni to see the trickster had to be brought under control by police using truncheons and water cannon. The alleged fraudster was heard to shout: “I have always been alive. I have lost a lot of weight, but it is me.”

He appeared in court in KwaZulu-Natal province yesterday.
