Afghan defence minister quits
Afghanistan’s defence minister, who played a key role overseeing the rapid expansion of the country’s army, stepped down yesterday days after a no-confidence vote.
The resignation of Abdul Rahim Wardak, who was trusted by Washington, leaves a key ministry without its leader at a time when Afghan troops are taking over security.
