Legionnaires’ toll holds at 95

NO NEW cases of Legionnaires’ disease have been recorded for three consecutive days.

The overall number of cases in the Edinburgh outbreak remains at 95, with 48 confirmed with the disease and 47 suspected.

Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said the static number is “reassurance” that the deadly outbreak is under control.

Two people have died since the first case was identified at the end of May.

Of those being treated in hospital, three are in intensive care and 10 are on general wards.

Twenty people are being treated in the community, 53 have been discharged from hospital and seven are being treated outside the NHS Lothian area.
