Calorie link to memory loss

Overeating can double the risk of memory problems in old age, new research has found.

Studies by scientists in the United States have shown that a high calorific intake can substantially increase the risk of developing mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a syndrome characterised by mild memory loss which can precede dementia.

The findings were released ahead of the American Academy of Neurology’s 64th annual meeting in New Orleans in April.

Dr Marie Janson, of Alzheimer’s Research UK, said: “Although these findings are yet to be published, they touch on an interesting subject.

“The initial report suggests older people who consume a high number of calories may be at greater risk of developing mild cognitive impairment.

“It would be interesting to see how many of these people go on to develop dementia.”

Personally I reckon the dark rum does it. Or maybe the coca cola. It could be the skin conditioner I use to alleviate the itch I get from eczema. Alternatively it could be a reaction from political representatives, or Mormons chapping on my door. Telephonesalesmen trying to sell me items I do not need. I tell you one thing for nothing, forty years ago we did not have to put up this kind of grot and I did not have an itch.

"Overeating can double the risk of memory problems in old age", Well that's not surprising, your body can't handle too much food, as it is on wind-down for your inevitable demise, a 'banana-a-day' would be the perfect old age diet, to keep your brain intact.
