Walk of the week: Creag Ruadh
MINUS 2C at the start of the walk, but with no breeze; a crisp sunny blue-sky day – January days don’t come any better.
I met Jimbo, broken-wrist John (don’t ask) and the two Brians in Comrie, bound for Ben Chonzie. Having already climbed this Munro, I was not so keen to join them, but the real reason was that I was recovering from a fortnight’s very heavy cold.
My alternative was Creag Ruadh which stands in the fairly featureless moorland area between Loch Tay to the north and Loch Earn to the south. At 2,336ft/712m, it comfortably qualifies as one of the Grahams – hills in Scotland between 2,000ft/610m and 2,499ft/761m, with a drop of at least 150 metres on all sides.
