Despite the tagging, these osprey chicks are not your regular jail birds – they are helping to ensure the future of their species.
The three youngsters, born in a secret location in the Borders, were given blue and silver leg rings with a unique tag number to allow scientists to keep track of their mating locations when they make their long migration journey to West Africa later this year.
