‘Bob was key part of PSN deal’

HE MADE his name leading the $280 million (£178m) management buy-out of Aberdeen-based Production Services Network (PSN) from American oil services giant Halliburton in 2006.

Now Bob Keiller will be thrust back into the limelight after taking on the top job at energy services heavyweight Wood Group, which he joined in 2010 following its $955m swoop on PSN.

Current Wood Group chief executive Allister Langlands, who is taking over the chairman’s role following the retirement of Sir Ian Wood, said that gaining Keiller’s services was a key part of the PSN deal. “It was clear that Bob was someone who would become a very serious candidate for promotion,” Langlands said.

Born in Edinburgh in 1964 and raised in Jedburgh, Keiller graduated from Heriot-Watt University in 1986 as a master of engineering. He joined BP as an engineer and was later head-hunted by oil producer Amerada Hess. He is married with three children and lives in Aberdeen.
