Preview: East Neuk Festival

THE East Neuk Festival is well known for its top-notch chamber music performed in venues and churches throughout the region.

The 2012 programme includes two of the world’s most revered quartets – the Leipzig Quartet and Hagen Quartet – as well as Scottish Chamber Orchestra, pianist Llyr Williams and Paul Hiller and Theatre of Voices. This year sees the launch of Littoral, a book festival within the main festival. Here are key events and ticket prices:

Wednesday 27 June

Kellie Castle Woodland and Walled Garden, 2pm: “Fairy Tales in Enchanted Woods” – a guided outdoor walk with Sara Maitland. £10.

Thursday 28 June

Kilrenny Church, 2pm: “Nature Around Us” – Kathleen Jamie and Sara Maitland.

Smugglers Inn Hotel, Anstruther 5:30pm: The Coast and the Villages – Andrew Greig and Tom Pow in conversation. £10.

Friday 29 June

Kilrenny Church 2:30pm: “A Personal Pilgrimage” – Richard Holloway. £10.

Saturday 30 June

Crail Church 2:30pm: “Writing the Natural World” – Richard Mabey discusses his passion for the countryside with Richard Holloway. £10.

Sunday 1 July

St Monans, 11am: Richard Mabey leads a walk along a section of the Fife Coastal Path. £15. (people who book for this event will be told details of where to meet)
