May day call on warming
THE warmest May on record has increased Scottish environmentalists' global warming fears.
The month had an average temperature of 10.5C in Scotland, 2.2C higher than in previous years.
Dr Richard Dixon, director of WWF Scotland, said: "Already this year, two months have been more than two degrees centigrade warmer than the long-term average. While enjoying some unexpected sun here in Scotland, we must not forget that climate change is hitting other parts of the world much harder than us."
