GREEN campaigners are targeting two Edinburgh supermarkets for the amount of packing on their goods.
Members of the Edinburgh branch of Friends of the Earth were due to return all the excess packaging from goods bought at branches of Tesco in Canonmills and Sainsbury's in Rose Street today.

Friends of the Earth Scotland's Rosiaina Browning said: "A large proportion of packaging is unnecessary and much of it could be avoided if supermarket's sourced more produce from local suppliers This would not only help to reduce Scotland's waste mountain but also help support our local economy."

Don't these politicians like to wrap themselves up in cling-film or somesuch in order to get their kinky kicks? Their criticism seems a bit two-faced!

Alex,

I think the issue here is excess and unnecessary packaging, not all packaging.
