A CAMPAIGN to stop Haddington losing its Tesco supermarket has been backed by one of Scotland's wealthiest men.
Iain McGeoch, the chairman of Mackays Stores Ltd, has written to MSPs urging them to take action to protect Haddington, and other communities under threat from out-of-town retail parks.

Tesco wants to close its town centre store and open a new one just outside the town.

Business associations have warned that up to a third of the town's businesses could go bust within 18 months.

Mr McGeoch said: "If this happens they will deny the people of Haddington any meaningful food offer in the town and move all of the pedestrian flow to their new out-of-town store."
