Zola Hams it up
WEST HAM were today expected to start talks with Gianfranco Zola with a view to appointing him as the club's new manager.
The Italian remains favourite to succeed Alan Curbishley after the board yesterday ruled out Slaven Bilic's claims. The Hammers' directors are understood to have made Zola, 42, their top choice ahead of countryman Roberto Donadoni.
West Ham may face a slight delay – the former Chelsea midfielder is joint coach of the Italy Under-21s and they are in action in Croatia tonight.
