Youth system helps fuel Linlithgow's push for Division Two glory
LINLITHGOW'S unbeaten run in Scottish Hydro Electric National League Division Two, which stretches back to the start of October, continued on Saturday with a bonus-point win over Hillfoots.
The men from Mains Park won 39-7 at home to keep them just three points behind leaders Whitecraigs in second place. It also gave them their eighth league win on the spin since the loss to fellow promotion chasers Hawick YM at the end of September.
And, in further good news for the club's long-term future, 14 of the 18 players involved in the first team on Saturday came through the youth system.
President Gavin Brown said: "It has been a good season so far and the pleasing thing is that we have not, as yet, had the injury problems that blighted us last season. This has meant coach Sandy Gow has had a fairly settled squad."
Elsewhere in Division Two at the weekend Forrester stayed in the relegation zone after a thumping 39-8 away loss at Stewartry.
In Division One Murrayfield Wanderers good run came to an end with a 21-18 defeat at Dumfries and relegation threatened Preston Lodge lost 25-7 at Dalziel. Edinburgh University are edging away from the bottom two after a win over Berwick though.
Lasswade are 19 points clear in Division Three after a 19-3 victory at Grangemouth Stags, Trinity Accies are hanging on in third place after a 14-9 away win at Helensburgh and Ross High won, but Lismore lost.
