British wrestler Myroslav Dykun has been banned for two years after testing positive for methamphetamine, UK Anti-Doping have announced.

Dykun, originally from Ukraine, tested positive for the amphetamine drug in March and UKAD revealed that the Greco-Roman wrestler’s B sample has come back positive.

Dykun, who won gold in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 66kg category, was hoping to compete for Team GB at the Olympics, but he was left out of the British squad in the wake of his failed drugs test.

UKAD chief executive Andy Parkinson said: “Our prevention programme was to ensure only clean athletes represent Great Britain. This case proves the system is working. When the eyes of the world fall on London, we want the public to have confidence in clean sport.”
