Woods on course to make US Open
TIGER Woods expects to be fit to play in the US Open after undergoing surgery on his left knee.
Woods has only chipped and putted so far but the world No1 is targeting a return to action at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio, starting on 29 May.
And he believes he will be fully ready for the second major of the year between 12-15 June at Torrey Pines. Woods said: "The rehab is going well. I've been training hard."
After three operations on the same knee, Woods has tried to adjust his swing to alleviate the stress on his legs. Woods added: "It has gotten better and hopefully it will continue to get better."
Flintoff would have played
ENGLAND have confirmed Andrew Flintoff would have made his Test comeback against New Zealand tomorrow had he not suffered an untimely side strain.
The 30-year-old has put in several outstanding bowling performances for Lancashire but just as the selectors considered their options, Flintoff was ruled out of the opening two Tests after suffering the injury.
England, who will include spinner Monty Panesar today, are also waiting to see if Paul Collingwood's third injection into his right shoulder eases the discomfort he has been feeling over the last year.
