Wolves maul the Romans

EDINBURGH Gridiron outfit Wolves pulled off an impressive victory away at Chester Romans yesterday during their first foray across the Border in this season's British American Football League, Division Two Northern season.

Quarterback Campbell Lewis threw for 138 yards and added a touchdown pass, while first-year running back Paul Elder punished the Romans on the ground, rushing for 102 yards and scoring his first touchdown in an 18-6 victory.

After pushing down the field, running back Allan Price opened the scoring with a four-yard sweep play. Elder touched down and then veteran receiver Stuart "Sid" Young streaked up the field for a touchdown.

Wolves General Manager Doug Adamson said: "It was a great team effort. We played to our game plan and everyone performed well, so we're pleased with the result."

But the Wolves aren't taking anything for granted, as a difficult away match against Lancashire Wolverines looms on June 1.

"Our confidence is growing as things come together but we're not resting," said Adamson.
