Wolves fight back for win

EDINBURGH Wolves won their inter-city American football clash with Glasgow Tigers 28-20 in difficult conditions at Meadowbank on Saturday.

The Wolves had to fight hard in the second half to get back into the game before sealing the win in the fourth quarter.

Wind conditions caused havoc for both teams, leaving them to rely on their running game. Glasgow took an early lead, taking advantage of a lull in the winds to throw a short touchdown pass over the heads of the Wolves secondary. The conversion was stopped and the Tigers led 6-0.

In the second quarter, David Molloy scored on the ground for the Wolves and the two-point conversion to put the home side 8-6 up. But Glasgow scored a touchdown and conversion to take a 14-8 half-time lead.

Wolves clawed their way back with a touchdown run for Molloy which went unconverted and tied the score at 14-14.

In the fourth quarter the Wolves scored back-to-back rushing touchdowns through Molloy, the last unconverted, to lead 28-14.

Glasgow scored a touchdown to narrow the lead to 28-20 but the Wolves held on.
