Williams can't wait to make last Lions tour a special one

WALES wing Shane Williams has vowed to make a mark on what he admits will be his last British and Lions tour.

Ian McGeechan's squad are enjoying a week of preparation and bonding in Surrey before flying to South Africa on Sunday, and Williams said:

"I can't wait for the tour to begin. We've been talking about it for more than 12 months, and now we are about to get down to the hard work.

"There is very little time before our first game, but we are all professional rugby players and the majority of the boys have played alongside each other before. It only takes a week to get all the calls and patterns together, and then it is up to you individually to organise yourself for games and training sessions.

"We are big lads, we know we have got to work hard in the short space of time we've got in order to achieve something out of this tour."

Williams, 32, failed to pack the punch he would have liked on tour with the 2005 Lions in New Zealand, but said: "I would like to think I am a little more experienced now, and I can go on this tour and be very successful, both team-wise and personally.

"I think the grounds suit me in South Africa. It will be my last Lions tour, and I would like to go out with a bang and be part of something really special."
