Watsonians 13 - 39 Heriot's
HERIOT'S came out on top of the relegation dog-fight, running away with the game in the final quarter.
First points came from the boot of scrum-half Graham Wilson inside ten minutes with an easy penalty after the Heriot's pack had set up good field position inside the Watsonians 22.
The kicking competition continued as Watsonians stand-off Mike Ker missed a 30-metre penalty and an ambitious drop goal from halfway before Wilson's 45-metre penalty attempt dipped just below the bar.
Heriot's finally cashed in on their territorial superiority when Wilson darted round the back of a deteriorating scrum close to the line to touch down and then add the conversion.
Heriot's had the upper hand and when stand-off Rory Hutton made a break that took him from one 22 to the other he off-loaded to flanker Chris Fusaro and Watsonians went in at the side to stop the attack. Wilson added his second penalty.
Right on halftime Watsonians did have success after a spell of intense pressure when openside Mike Fedo went over in the corner.
A Ker penalty minutes after the restart gave Watsonians some hope but Heriot's hit back when Dave McCall fed Colin Goudie for a classic wingers' try.
An interception allowed Ker to get behind the visitors and Learmonth won the race for the kick through, but McCall popped up at the other end after Hutton had run in his team's third try. Moments later it was Hutton who got the bonus point try. Goudie added a fifth to round it off.
