Volleyball: City of Edinburgh come through after fright by new side Aberdonia
Scottish women’s volleyball champions City of Edinburgh survived a scare against newcomers Aberdonia to preserve their unbeaten record in the Schelde Sports Scottish League.
Edinburgh coasted to a 25-15 25-7 lead but let their concentration slip as their passing game disintegrated under pressure from the Aberdonia service. The Aberdeen side won the next two sets to force the match into a decisive fifth set but the champions came through 25-15 25-7 19-25 17-25 15-7.
Troon Team Ayrshire moved to the top on sets difference ahead of Edinburgh with a 22-25 25-9 25-16 25-17 win at Su Ragazzi.
In the men’s first division, City of Edinburgh repeated their Scottish Cup final win over Bon Accord as they cruised to a 25-14 25-19 25-18 win at Queensferry High School.
Edinburgh Jets held off South Ayrshire to win 29-27 25-13 25-17.
