Vaughan expects IPL to lure English

MICHAEL Vaughan claims it is "naive" to think England players will not be part of the Indian Premier League in the near future.

Giles Clarke, chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board, has made it clear that no centrally-contracted players will be allowed to take part in the IPL.

Currently only Hampshire captain Dimitri Mascarenhas, who does not have a central contract, has signed up to play in the inaugural competition while Kevin Pietersen has described the ECB's stance as "ridiculous".

And now the England captain has added his name to the list of players who have spoken out positively about the country's top stars taking part in the lucrative Twenty20 tournament.

"I've heard so many people say that all the best players are in the world are there and you want to go and play in it," Vaughan said.

"So I think we're all naive if we don't think that England players are going to end up playing in the IPL.

"I think it will be sooner rather than later that we will see England players playing in the IPL."
