United angry over switch of Dons game
DUNDEE UNITED have reacted angrily to the Scottish Premier League's decision to change the date of their game with Aberdeen.
The SPL clash at Tannadice has been switched from Saturday, May 9 to Thursday, May 7 to avoid a city clash with Dundee, who host Partick Thistle that weekend.
The game could have huge significance in the race for a European spot and United bosses are unhappy the problem was not taken into account before the post-split fixtures were decided.
A statement on the club's official website, www.dundeeunitedfc.co.uk, read: "Dundee United are hugely disappointed at the way this matter has been handled, with no cognisance taken of the situation within the city of Dundee when the fixtures were compiled.
"It is a source of deep frustration and, indeed, anger that situations prevailing in other cities were taken into account prior to the post-split fixtures being determined but the fact that another senior football game was taking place at the same time, in the same street, in the same city, was not considered to be an issue.
"This game is, arguably, the biggest game of the season for both Dundee United and Aberdeen and we are angry at being forced to move.
"Supporters may have already made arrangements to attend on the Saturday and, in any case, are again inconvenienced by this apparent lack of foresight."
