Tom English: Trump-eting his lobbying technique

Mr Bombastic of New York City, aka Donald Trump, has given another one of those interviews in which he is tossed sycophantic questions which he hits out of the park with the force of his hubris.

The latest is on Bloomberg and it's all about Brand Trump. You guessed it, the brand is strong, the brand is stronger than it's ever been, stronger than any another brand on the planet, stronger than God. "The name is hotter than ever," says The Donald, from the 26th floor of Trump Tower in Manhattan, from where he looks down on the world. "It's as hot as a pistol. If Trump wasn't doing well, the stars don't come up and kiss my ass."

Charming. By way of illustration, Trump spoke about his proposed golf course in Aberdeen and how the brand supposedly smoothed the way. We're not quite sure if Alex Salmond constitutes a star in The Donald's world, but draw your own conclusions about the ass-kissing. "I got it built because they wanted Trump," he said. "If my name was anything else than Donald Trump, zero chance. Zero."
