Thomson is determined to win place at Hearts
HEARTS teenager Craig Thomson has overcome the disappointment of being dropped by manager Csaba Laszlo and has pledged to force his way back into the side.
Despite being named the Clydesdale Bank Young Player of the Month for September and enjoying a rich vein of form at right-back, the 18-year-old found himself relegated to the subs' bench against Hibs earlier this month.
The demotion surprised many and he also started Saturday's defeat to St Johnstone on the bench before replacing Ian Black on the right side of midfield after 75 minutes.
Thomson admitted feeling dejected at losing his place but said today he will play whenever and wherever Laszlo needs him in an effort to regain a first-team berth.
"I missed out against Hibs which was disappointing but I was delighted to get an opportunity on Saturday," he said. "I came on for Blackie and played farther up the park than I had been used to this season. But that's not a problem for me. I'll play wherever the gaffer wants me to. I'm just happy to be involved."
Thomson, who made his Hearts debut in the second leg of August's Europa League qualifier against Dinamo Zagreb, watched his namesake Jason take over at right-back in recent weeks but could find himself deployed in midfield against Kilmarnock this weekend.
