Third Division: Leaders Arbroath held by Clyde
ARBROATH extended their advantage at the top to six points despite being held to a 1-1 draw by bottom-of-the-table Clyde at Broadwood.
After surviving a scare when Clyde striker Marc McCusker shot wide of an open goal from 16 yards out, the league leaders went ahead on the hour mark as Gavin Swankie got free and delivered an inch-perfect cross for Josh Falkingham to sidefoot home. Clyde equalised 10 minutes later when Graham Girvan launched a free kick into the box and substitute Willie Sawyers was on hand to turn the ball home after it had been knocked down into his path. Arbroath's hopes of victory were dented when full-back Darran Thomson was dismissed with 12 minutes to go for a crude challenge on McCusker. Berwick Rangers boosted their promotion hopes with a 2-1 win away to an Elgin side whose hopes of a top-four finish now look slim. Lee Currie gave the visitors an 53rd-minute lead, but Craig Gunn levelled with 19 minutes to play only for Paul Currie to score the winner seven minutes from time.
Meanwhile East Stirling ended a run of 11 games without a win as they beat Montrose 2-0 at Links Park.
The opener came in the closing stages of the first half when David Dunn sent over an in-swinging corner from the right and John Neil rose highest to nod in. The second arrived right at the death when Fraser Team netted.
