Third division: Craig Gunn fires Elgin to victory while Stranraer leave it late to go clear at top
Montrose 0, Elgin City 1 Craig Gunn's tenth goal of the season was enough to ensure that Elgin City took all three points.
The first half offered little in terms of goal-mouth incident as Montrose dominated possession with the wind at their backs. The second half was livelier with Elgin taking the lead in 54 minutes. Gunn collected the ball 20 yards out and made space for himself before finishing with aplomb. Paul Tosh could have levelled a minute later but his shot was saved by Peter Donnelly.
Dougie Cameron came close to adding a second for Elgin but his shot grazed the post before Ross McCord missed the best chance of an equaliser as he blazed wide.
Stranraer 1, Berwick Rangers 1
Stranraer moved a point clear at the top of the Third Division but they left it late to snatch a point at home to Berwick Rangers.
Berwick had got off to the perfect start as they were ahead within two minutes. The goal came after Steven Notman had got down the right to cross for Alan Brazil, the striker with the famous name was able to then turn the ball in from six yards.
There were little in the way of chances to warm the hardy souls who had come out to the match but the bulk of them were cheered by the late Stranraer equaliser. Craig Malcolm was the man who did the damage as the top scorer drove home from 20 yards.
