Third division
ALBION Rovers host Montrose this afternoon hoping that a match against the bottom side will be the perfect tonic following two consecutive league defeats.
Having opened the season with a run of nine games unbeaten, Paul Martin's side had established themselves as one of the strongest sides in the league. Defeats to Queens Park and Berwick Rangers, however, have seen the Wee Rovers slip to fourth in the table.
Victory today against a Montrose side that have yet to win in the league this season would go a long way to steering Albion's ship back on course, but the Cliftonhill side have not beaten Montrose at home in over three years.
It may only be November, but the visitors already find themselves marooned at the bottom of the table with eight points separating them from ninth place Queens Park. Although he hasn't been helped by a crippling injury list, Steven Tweed will be aware that results are needed quickly.
Having just missed out on the play-offs after a good run of form at the tail end of last season, the Montrose fans would have been expecting their side to push on in the opening months of this campaign.
