Third Division - Stenhousemuir on the up with scoring Motion
KEVIN Motion continued his fine scoring run for Stenhousemuir to help his new side retain pole position with a 2-0 'away' win against tenants East Stirling at Ochilview.
Signed from East of Scotland League side Spartans in the summer, Motion has now scored four goals in his past three games to repay manager John Coughlin's signing policy. "I am delighted Kevin has taken the chance to play in the senior game with both hands."
Motion scored right on half time when he volleyed home Willie Lyle's accurate cross and added a second 10 minutes in the second half when he ran onto an Iain Thomson pass to shoot home.
Cowdenbeath are right on the tails of Stenhousemuir with two early goals setting up a 2-1 home win over Berwick Rangers. John Gemmell put the Central Park side ahead in only two minutes and Brian Fairbairn scored against his former club with a diving header before ten minutes had been played. Jamie Ewart scored in the second half for Berwick.
Montrose remain undefeated in fourth place thanks to a last-minute Scott Anson goal at Forfar, despite having had Chris McLeod sent off in the first half.
Annan Athletic striker Mike Jack made the long trip to Elgin worthwhile for his side with both goals in a 2-1 win, Darren Shallicker pulling one back for the hosts from the penalty spot. Annan's Ian Grainger was dismissed for the handball that led to the kick.
Goals from Ross Clark, Ben Gordon and a Paul McLeod penalty eased Dumbarton to a 3-1 win at Albion Rovers.
