Third Division Round-up
Berwick Rangers 0 Albion Rovers 2
A DOUBLE from Pat Walker gave Albion Rovers their first points of the season. Walker struck his first when he latched onto a cut-back from Bobby Barr and drilled the ball home.
Albion should have doubled their advantage when the same combination linked up well, but Walker's shot was well saved by Ryan McGurk.
Walker grabbed his second after the break when he rose above the defence at the back post to head home a Ross Harris cross.
Dumbarton 1
Stenhousemuir 1
THE spoils were shared at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium in a dire 1-1 draw between Dumbarton and Stenhousemuir.
Stenhousemuir took the lead in the 23rd minute of a forgettable first half as Kevin Motion scored with an 18-yard volley.
In the second half, within minutes of coming on, Dumbarton's Paul Keegan was denied by the post. But his persistence was rewarded in the 71st minute as he met a driven cross to give the Sons a point.
East Stirlingshir 0
Forfar Athletic 3
FORFAR Athletic's new loan signing Johnny Russell scored twice on his debut at Ochilview as they cruised to a 3-0 win over East Stirling.
The Dundee United player opened the scoring after 20 minutes, finishing from close-range amid a scramble in the Shire box. He got his second in the 55th minute, converting an Elliot Smith cross. Three minutes later, Smith was again the provider as his pinpoint delivery was headed home by veteran hitman Derek Lilley.
Elgin City 0
Cowdenbeath 2
COWDENBEATH registered a well-earned 2-0 win against Elgin, putting the Blue Brazil top of the table.
The game burst into life in the 44th minute. Stewart Mackay was sent off for Elgin after he fouled Brian Fairbairn in the box. However, Fairbairn missed the spot-kick.
But Cowdenbeath sealed the points after about an hour with two goals in the space of a minute from Darren McGregor and John Gemmill.
Montrose 1
Annan Athletic 1
A SECOND-HALF header from Ryan Adamson preserved Annan's unbeaten league record.
Montrose took the lead after 28 minutes when Scott Anson slotted home from the edge of the box.
The home side should have been two up when they were awarded a penalty, but John Baird hit the post. Adamson equalised for Annan after 73 minutes and four minutes later, Montrose's Hugh Davidson was red-carded for elbowing.
