Third Division: Lennon delighted as Blue Brazil extend their lead
LEADERS Cowdenbeath drew 1-1 at bottom side Elgin City, but manager Danny Lennon was a happy man as the Blue Brazil doubled their lead at the top to two points.
Lennon's side scored on the hour mark when recent signing Graeme Brown turned home a John Dempster cross, but the home team showed some spirit and Kenny Wright equalised 15 minutes later.
A last-minute penalty miss by Dempster ensured that only one point travelled south with Lennon saying: "We missed a barrow load of chances and Elgin scored with their only shot and sometimes you have to accept that these things happen in football."
Dumbarton got back into the promotion race at the expense of second-placed Stenhousemuir with substitute Ian Chisholm's first-half goal proving decisive in their 1-0 home win. Chisholm came on after 15 minutes for the injured Ross Clark and netted when Paul McLeod set him up.
Warriors manager John Coughlin said: "It is back to the drawing board for us."
The game of the day saw East Stirlingshire defeat ForfarAthletic 3-2 with a last-minute Colin Cramb goal direct from a free-kick lifting them back into the promotion play-off places. Shire manager Jim McInally said: "Forfar were better than us for large parts of that game."
Steven Tweed's managerial debut was a disappointing affair with his Montrose side going down 3-0 at home to Annan Athletic.
