Third Division: Camara fails to click on East Stirling debut

COWDENBEATH had the result of the day in the Third Division when they ended East Stirling's long unbeaten run in style with a 4-1 win at Ochilview.

The home side's debutant goalkeeper Kemoko Camara had a game to forget as Brian Fairbairn opened the scoring, although Brian Graham headed in an equaliser before 20 minutes had been played. Kenny Adamson put the Central Park men ahead again with a 40-yard shot in 57 minutes with Paul McQuade and Fairbairn again scoring to seal a fine win for Danny Lennon's second-placed side.

Lennon said: "We had a game plan that the players stuck to fantastically well and scored four excellent goals."

Cowdenbeath could end Stenhousemuir's long reign at the top of the league if they win their game in hand after John Coughlin's men went down 1-0 at Forfar. Sean Kilgallon netted from the spot in injury time with Andy Shirra red-carded for his part in the award when he punched a goal-bound Jonny Russell effort off the line.

Station Park manager Dick Campbell said: "It has been a great week for us with the Scottish Cup win over Stranraer and then a victory over the league leaders."

Disappointed Coughlin complained: "We were worthy of a draw at least."

Another late goal saw home side Annan Athletic dent the promotion hopes of Dumbarton in a 2-1 win. Kevin Neilson nodded the Galabank men ahead three minutes before half-time with Ross Clark netting from the spot right on the interval to equalise. Neilson nodded in again in the last minute to gain a victory for Annan.

Dejected Dumbarton manager Jim Chapman said: "Our players need to take more responsibility. They were given jobs at set pieces and we lost two goals at corners."

Albion Rovers got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over managerless Montrose at Links Park. The home side were reduced to ten men after only six minutes when Kevin Bradley was sent off for lashing out at Michael McGowan, however Callum Smith shot them ahead within 60 seconds.

On-loan Dundee United man Marco Andreoni scrambled in an equaliser in the second half with Bobby Barr chipping home a fine winner on the hour mark.

Elgin City had a miserable day with manager Robbie Williamson resigning before the Borough Briggs men went down 2-0 to Berwick Rangers, who have now won three games in a row. Darren Gribben grabbed a goal in each half to take the points south although he missed out on a hat-trick when Joe Malin saved his penalty near the end.

Assistant manager Kenny Gilbert, who took the Elgin team before quitting after the match, said: "Robbie and I tried our best but we could not see any light at the end of the tunnel."

Berwick's own stand-in manager Jimmy Crease said: "It is amazing what a bit of confidence can do for a team."
