Boxing: Gary Young falls at the first after Danish display

THERE was disappointment for Gilmerton's Scottish welterweight champion, Gary Young as he was knocked out in the first round of his six-round bout in Denmark last night, writes BRIAN DONALD.

Danish opponent Christian Bladt delivered "the best punch that I've ever seen", according to Young's coach Paul Weir, to take every ounce of air from the Scot's body with a hard left hook.

"Bladt has offered Gary Young a rematch in Edinburgh in April so we will try to get a sponsor to make that possible whenn Young tops the bill on Alex Morrison's planned show at Edinburgh's Grosvenor-Hilton hotel," said Young. "Gary will come again as no boxer could have shrugged off that tremendous Bladt body shot that KO'd him.''
