ANDY Murray hit out at Sky Sports commentator and former British player Barry Cowan on Twitter yesterday.
The world No.2 was watching Rafael Nadal beat Tomas Berdych 6-2, 6-4 in the Rome Masters semi-final and tweeted: “Was pumped 2 watch nadal berdych but barry cowans commentating has killed match 5 games in..poor guy has no idea what’s happening #clueless”
Cowan made some critical comments when the Scot retired hurt against Marcel Granollers last week. The Merseysider reached a high of world No.162 during a brief professional career at the turn of the century. Murray went on to ‘re-tweet’ followers agreeing with his comment.
Meanwhile, Murray intends to wait until the middle of the week before making a final decision on whether to play in the French Open. He gave a pessimistic assessment of his back problem after pulling out of the Masters event in Rome on Wednesday, stating he would be “very surprised” if he made it to Paris.
The Scot had a scan on Friday and sources within his camp confirmed he was resting and would hold talks with specialists in the coming days. The French Open begins next Sunday.
