SCOTTISH tennis player Andy Murray is due to give a motivational talk about his passion for sport at a public event at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh tonight.

Murray, the world number four, will be joined by his brother Jamie, a former Wimbledon Mixed Doubles champion, and mother Judy. The Murrays will discuss their sporting careers and their wish to encourage children to take up sport through Mrs Murray’s Set4Sport initiative.

Tickets for the free event, which is the first of the RBS Museums Talk series, were snapped up within 24 hours of becoming available last month.

The event, to be held in the museum’s grand gallery, will be hosted by Jonathan Overend, the BBC tennis correspondent.

Gordon Rintoul, director of National Museums Scotland said: “We are tremendously excited to welcome Andy, Jamie and Judy to the National Museum of Scotland. This event embodies what we aim to showcase with the new RBS Museum Talks series: inspiring stories of Scottish achievement, excellence and creativity presented in the uplifting setting of the recently transformed National Museum of Scotland. I am sure it will be a fascinating and enthralling evening.”

The discussion and question and answer session with the audience will be broadcast on Radio 5 Live on Thursday 9 February at 7.30pm.
