Tartan Army cool on clash with Argies
THE Scottish Football Association could scrap a November friendly against Argentina after receiving a "negative" response to their plans to fly the South Americans in.
SFA chief executive Gordon Smith appealed this week for fans to air their views on whether they would be prepared to pay inflated ticket prices to see the Argentines take on Scotland at Hampden.
But Smith was surprised to find so many supporters come out against the provisional fixture, and he admits people power could force the SFA to call off the game.
Smith said: "I have to say I'm disappointed by their reaction so far and it's beginning to look negative as far as the game is concerned."
He will hold off making a decision on the match until next week, by which stage the SFA believe they will have a clear picture of supporters' views.
It is believed the SFA would have to spend around 1million to bring Argentina to Scotland, and that would mean ticket prices being increased.
The friendly international would still need to draw a large crowd for the SFA to avoid making a loss.
Smith said: "I want to see our national team playing a country like Argentina.
"But, if the public are hostile to ticket pricing and the game is going to result in financial loss, then we have to ask ourselves if it's worthwhile taking it on."
