Success galore at Peffermill
LEITH ATHLETIC and Edinburgh City were among the winners in the prestigious Edinburgh Cup International Youth Tournament that attracted large crowds to the Edinburgh University Sports Ground at Peffermill, writes IAN MACKAY.
Leith Athletic beat Livingston FC 4-2 on penalties to win the under-14 age group after the sides were locked at 0-0 in their cup final with Leith's Lloyd McGhee named man of the match.
Tynecastle FC beat Dunblane Soccer Club 2-1 to win the under-14 Plate final. Leith Athletic went on to beat Ayr Boswell BC in the under-15 final.
The under-13 title was won by Aston Villa BC, who beat Edinburgh South 5-4 on penalties after their final finished in a 2-2 draw. Leith Athletic under-13s crashed 4-0 to Jackton BC in the Plate final.
Edinburgh City then went on to beat Salvesen 2-0 in the final of the under-17 event.
Ayr United beat Dunalastair Thistle 3-0 in the Plate final.
