Rhys Thomas

Interview: Rhys Thomas

Who would attend your fantasy dinner party and what would you eat?

Freddie Mercury, David Attenborough, Richard Attenborough, Harrison Ford, Roald Dahl, Meryl Streep and Joan Rivers. We’d eat chicken fajitas with lots of rice and a fruit platter.

Whom did you last text and what was the message?

I texted my wife to tell her that I’d paid our babysitter.

It’s not cool but...

I like Genesis.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

My mum says not to take any old bosh from anyone.

What’s the worst job you ever had?

An acting job on Casualty. The set is a depressing place – in a warehouse on an industrial estate in Bristol. It smells of fish.

Who is your favourite fictional character? Doctor Who.

What are you afraid of? I don’t like the thought of my children being in an accident.

Did you have a nickname growing up?

No nickname, Rhys was unusual enough in Essex.

What situations make you lose your temper? Bad comedy on telly. I don’t like programmes like Mock the Week, which feature lots of shouty men.

If you could choose a profession to try, what would that be? Why?

I’d like to be a classy nature programme host like David Attenborough.

What is always in your fridge?

Beetroot juice, really good for you. But it makes your wee a funny colour.

If you could change something about yourself, what would it be? I’d like to get rid of my moles.

If you could travel back in time, where would you go?

It’d be good to see the asteroid hitting Earth and wiping out the dinosaurs.

Saturday night or Sunday morning?

Sunday, a lie in with The Andrew Marr Show on the telly.

Who or what is the love of your life?

My wife and my children.
