SPL Fanzone: Motherwell
THERE are some times in football when it is clear that those paid to be involved in the game simply operate at a higher level than those who pay to watch it. But there are moments when you wonder just what football coaches do to earn their money. With the exception of a fortuitous 20 minutes, St Mirren gubbed us over two games last week thanks to a very high pressing game which stopped us building from the back.
Instead of copying this, Csaba Laszlo sent out a Hearts formation with only the ponderous Nade up front and we were duly given time to start passing.
Jim Gannon made a bold change to play three at the back in the League Cup tie and was honest enough to admit it backfired. Perhaps the key to success for managers is not only knowing when to tinker, but knowing when to leave well alone?
