It is hard to grumble too much when anticipating a first Scottish Cup final in 20 years but Motherwell fans are beginning to get a bit concerned. Resting and rotating to keep people fresh is one thing, sending out half a reserve side to get thrashed on a weekly basis is another. Having squeezed into the top six, one point from nine and 12 goals conceded is not doing anything for our morale.

On the other hand, having our feet firmly reattached to terra firma may be no bad thing. The Germans use the phrase euphorie bremse - literally euphoria break - when reality is reinforced with a sudden thrashing or disappointment and this seems to be happening at Fir Park. We have a chance of beating Celtic in the final but nothing less than our very best performance will be enough.
