SPL Fanzone: Hibernian

THE much-needed win Hibs were striving for finally arrived last Saturday with a hard-fought, rather dull but desperately required victory. Hibs and Killie battled and bobbled their way through the Easter Road pitch, trying and failing to play good football, but it was Derek Riordan who provided the one shining moment, winning the points with a fantastic 30-yard free-kick.

Up until that point, Hibs had toiled to fashion many chances and when they did, it was Killie's substitute goalkeeper who foiled them, with a string of excellent saves, most notably from Benji's penalty. At that point, it looked like another one of them days, until Riordan struck to save the day.

Hibs now have to carry on with the winning habit as they take on Ross County in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup on Saturday. While this game will be far from easy, it represents a great chance for Hibs to progress and keep the season alive.
