SPL managers convene for referee talks
THE Premier League's 12 managers will discuss the hot topic of refereeing when they gather for their third annual get-together at Gleneagles today.
The bosses will watch Scotland's World Cup qualifier against Norway at Hampden before heading for the luxurious Perthshire resort ahead of a day of talks organised by the SPL in conjunction with former national team coach Andy Roxburgh.
Now Uefa's technical director, Roxburgh has been drafted in to help host seminars on coaching trends, player development and technical issues within the game.
However, a presentation from whistler Craig Thomson – who is filling in for the SFA's referee development officer, Hugh Dallas, and Donald McVicar, the SFA's head of referee development, both of whom are unavailable – could prompt as much discussion.
An SPL spokesman said: "The managers will watch the Scotland game on Saturday afternoon and then head for Gleneagles in the evening. The more formal part will take place on Sunday.
"Andy Roxburgh will be leading the sessions and all 12 SPL managers have intimated they will be coming along.
"Iissues such as coaching trends, the different demands placed on coaches and referees will be on the agenda."
One manager taking part for the first time is Hearts' Csaba Laszlo.
