Speedway: Campbell says Monarchs just need a little fine tuning

EDINBURGH Scotwaste Monarchs boss John Campbell is predicting his speedway team building plans for next season will be completed by the end of the month.

"We haven't had much time to think about things because we only completed our racing programme last week, but now we will be moving on with things and I would like to think our team will be finalised before December," he said.

No.1 Ryan Fisher has already decided to stay in the Premier League and Monarchs are currently in the process of buying his contract outright from parent club Coventry Bees to make him a full Edinburgh asset.

His team-mate Thomas Jonasson, however, who put the brake on his UK racing career following the death of his father earlier in the season, could be heading for the Elite League.

Swindon Robins want to sign the Swede on a permanent basis and Monarchs may decide this is a good business deal and would help offset the cost of purchasing Fisher from the Bees.

Meanwhile, Scotwaste have confirmed they will continue as team sponsors for a fifth year in 2010. Monarchs chairman Alex Harkess said: "The relationship has become more of a friendly arrangement than a business deal." Scotwaste owner Stewart Melrose commented: "I hope the relationship with Monarchs will continue to be mutually beneficial to both parties."
