Spartans back on top after McLeod double
SPARTANS regained pole position at the top of the Central Taxis Premier Division thanks to a first-half double from striker Keith McLeod in their 2-0 victory against rivals, Edinburgh City.
Edinburgh University enjoyed a last-minute winner, triumphing 3-2 against previous leaders Lothian Thistle. David Oswald, James Craigen and Michael Smith were on target while Daniel McAleavy and Craig Hume replied for Lothian.
Preston Athletic returned to winning ways with an emphatic 5-0 score against bottom club Coldstream. Andy Brown (2), Martin Laidlaw, Kevin Cairnie and John Kerr scored.
Civil Service Strollers beat Heriot-Watt University 3-1 with goals from Bobby Reid, Michael Somerville and Danny Forbes, while Tynecastle and Selkirk shared a 3-3 draw.
Vale of Leithen remain at the top of the First Division beating Craigroyston 1-0.
Stirling University moved into second place with a 5-2 win against Eyemouth United while Gretna 2008 overcame Peebles 6-1.
Leith Athletic beat Ormiston 4-1, Gala Fairydean defeated Easthouse Lily 2-0 and Hawick Royal Albert won 5-4 away at Kelso United.
